According to Oliver Rowland, unlike Formula 1, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton would not be dominant in Formula E.
Oliver Rowland, a Formula E driver, thinks that Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen wouldn’t win the electric championship if they moved from Formula 1.
Since 2013, Verstappen and Hamilton have won all but one of the Drivers’ titles in the Grand Prix series, dominating the competition in terms of race wins, podium finishes, and pole positions.
Verstappen won 15 races and collected 454 points to claim the 2022 World Championship, setting two new records for the motorsport. Meanwhile, Hamilton was the first racer to reach 100 victories in the ’20 season and went on to secure a record-tying seventh championship shortly after.
In contrast, Jean-Eric Vergne is the first racer to win back-to-back titles in Formula E. Mahindra racer Rowland has complimented the strength of the field before the start of season nine in Mexico this weekend.
Racers from F1 would not dominate FE
Rowland, a past E-Prix champion, told Total-Motorsport.com, “I don’t think you could put any F1 driver in Formula E where they would win easily.”
“I think Max [Verstappen] is the standout in F1 at the moment in terms of pace, talent and just natural ability.
“It’s easy to say when he’s winning, I rate the others highly, especially the younger guys like Charles [Leclerc] and George [Russell], but they wouldn’t come here and dominate.
“I know that, I’ve raced against them [in junior categories] and I know their level.
“I would say the average here [in FE] is better [than F1]. I would welcome them here any time.”
