Watch the Red Bull crew’s reactions during the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, when Max Verstappen passed and held off Lewis Hamilton to win the championship.
The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix final lap will be remembered for a long time. It was an appropriate, albeit controversial, conclusion to a fantastic season.
Going into the last race, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were tied on points, so whoever finished ahead of the other would win the championship.
The race was dominated by Hamilton until a Safety Car allowed Verstappen to take the lead at the restart.
The Dutchman took full advantage of the circumstances and his Soft tyres to pass Hamilton on the inside at Turn 5, then held him off for the rest of the lap to claim the title.
