When the laps on Sunday’s race came to an end, Keselowski was in control, but Logano—who had dominated 140 of the 260 laps—had made his way back into the contention.

Logano dominated the inside track on the last lap, with Keselowski leading the outside. Logano moved to the outside of Keselowski as the race approached Turn 3 and, with the help of Christopher Bell’s strong push, was capable of passing Keselowski for the lead.

Logano subsequently defeated Keselowski by 0.193 seconds to come out on top and take home his first victory of the year at Atlanta, where he had previously competed in Legends car races on the  ¼-mile infield oval for many years as a youngster.

“First off, winning at Atlanta is so special to me. So many memories of me and my dad (Tom) and racing right here on the quarter-mile and this is the full circle,” said Logano, who earned his 32nd career win.

“So many memories racing here in the Legends car and having a good time and dreaming of going straight on the quarter-mile and on to the big track. That was always the dream to do. To finally win here means so much to me personally.

“This (car) was an animal. It was very, very fast. I was able to lead a ton of laps, raced really hard there at the end and got a good push from (Bell) to clear myself (for the lead). Huge victory. Nice to get one early in the season – always feels better.

“A great day for us.”

Bell came in third, followed by Corey LaJoie, who achieved a career-best fourth place, and Tyler Reddick, who competed while experiencing flu-like symptoms, who came in fifth.

Ryan Blaney, Erik Jones, Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch round out the top ten.
