In a road car that makes use of F1 hybrid technology, the AMG One has broken the lap record at the illustrious track.
Mercedes unveiled the AMG One, a special hypercar with Formula 1 technology, in 2017.
The car makes use of the hybrid powertrain found in the 2015 Lewis Hamilton W06 F1 car, which helped him win his third title.
The contemporary F1 powerplants’ MGU-H and MGU-K technology is used in the 1.6 liter V6 to deliver 566 horsepower. The Mercedes AMG One has a total output of 1,049 horsepower.
Racers can put the car into “Strat 2” to release all of its power, which activates the active aerodynamics, lowers the car, and boosts engine output.
Lewis Hamilton, the reigning F1 World Champion, contributed to the development of the car. The engine is made at the Mercedes High Performance Powertrains facility in Brixworth.
As is customary, the automaker headed to the Nordschleife to test how quickly it could record a lap of the 12.9-mile racetrack.
