Todd Gilliland’s No. 38 team was penalised for losing a wheel in Sunday’s race at Auto Club Speedway, and Front Row Motorsports will appeal the punishment.
The penalty cited section 10.5.2.6 of the NASCAR official rules: Loss or separation of an incorrectly installed tire/wheel from the car, which resulted in a four-race suspension for crew chief Seth Barbour. The infraction also resulted in suspensions for jackman Jourdan Osinskie and front tyre changer Tanner Andrews.
During the appeals process, all three members of the crew will be allowed to remain with the team.
In the season-opening Daytona 500, a wheel fell off Justin Haley’s car, resulting in a penalty for Kaulig Racing’s No. 31 squad. The organisation also elected to appeal their penalty, but no date has been set for the hearing.
