The Addams Family is making a comeback on Netflix, thanks to a new Tim Burton adaptation.
Characters from Charles Addams’ New Yorker drawings inspired an early version of the show, which broadcast for two seasons in 1964. The 30-minute black-and-white series, which broadcast on ABC from 1946 through 1966, were created by David Levy and Donald Saltzman.
Burton’s adaption will now become a live-action eight-part series called Wednesday, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jenna Ortega, and guest star Luis Guzmán, among others.
Morticia Addams, the matriarch of the Addams family, will be played by Welsh actress Luis Guzmán, who will also play Morticia’s husband, Gomez Addams.
Jenna Ortega will play Wednesday Addams, the daughter of the Addams family.
Fans have welcomed Zeta-Jones’ casting in the part previously held by Anjelica Huston, who are pleased by the surprising yet “wonderful” decision of the Chicago actress.
