T.O.P from Big Bang donned a Kaneki mask in their Still Life music video, a form of Tokyo Ghoul cosplay

In 2022, after spending years on hiatus, the iconic K-pop boy group Big Bang made its long-awaited comeback with the single “Still Life”. The music video featured the members G-Dragon, Taeyang, Daesung, and T.O.P in setups depicting the four seasons, with each member showcasing their unique style and persona.

However, it was T.O.P’s appearance that caught the attention of anime fans all over the world. In the middle of the music video, he appeared wearing a Kaneki mask from the popular anime series “Tokyo Ghoul”. The black leather mask, with its iconic gnashing teeth design, is a well-known accessory for fans of the series and is synonymous with the struggles of its protagonist, Ken Kaneki.

T.O.P’s love for “Tokyo Ghoul” was evident in the video, as he not only wore the Kaneki mask but also wore a rabbit mask at the beginning of the video, which could be a reference to Touka Kirishima, one of the main characters in the franchise. His cosplay as Kaneki was a pleasant surprise for fans of both Big Bang and “Tokyo Ghoul”, as it showcased T.O.P’s appreciation for the anime and manga series.

For those who are not familiar with “Tokyo Ghoul”, it is a dark fantasy manga created by Sui Ishida, which tells the story of Ken Kaneki, a student who transforms into a half-human, half-ghoul after going on a date with the beautiful yet dangerous Rize Kamishiro. The manga was later adapted into an anime series by Studio Pierrot, the same company behind popular series such as “Naruto”, “Bleach”, and “Black Clover”.

Overall, T.O.P’s low-key Kaneki cosplay was a fun and unexpected nod to the “Tokyo Ghoul” fandom, and it’s no surprise that it delighted both VIPs and anime fans alike. Fans can catch T.O.P’s Kaneki cosplay in the “Still Life” music video, as well as on the single’s cover art and teaser photos.
