On Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 release, based on what we know

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is one of the most highly anticipated anime releases of 2023, and fans are eagerly awaiting its premiere on July 6. Following the enormous success of the first season and the feature-length film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which delved into the backstory of the series’ newest protagonist Yuta Okkotsu, the second season is set to continue the story of Yuji Itadori and his fellow jujutsu sorcerers.

The season will cover two arcs from the manga, the Gojo’s Past arc and the Shibuya Incident arc. The first arc will focus on Satoru Gojo’s time as a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, and will take place in 2006, approximately 10 years prior to the events of the first season. This arc will give fans a deeper insight into Gojo’s character and backstory, as well as showcasing his incredible abilities as a jujutsu sorcerer.

The second arc, the Shibuya Incident arc, will pick up immediately after the events of season 1, and will introduce several new characters, including Riko Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, the father of Gojo’s future pupil Megumi Fushiguro. Yuta Okkotsu, who was introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, will also make his anime debut in this arc.

In addition to the new characters, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will feature a new director, Shōta Goshozono, who previously worked on the first season of the anime as an episode director. Goshozono will be taking over from Sunghoo Park, who directed both the first season and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Hiroshi Seko, who wrote the screenplay for both the first season and the film, will return to write the screenplay for season 2.

The season will be produced by MAPPA, the same studio that worked on the first season and the film. Character designers Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu, composer Yoshimasa Terui, and art director Junichi Higashi will also be returning to work on the series. CG animator Daisuke Ishikawa, who has worked on other popular anime such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Weathering With You, will serve as the chief 3D animation director for season 2.

Fans can expect a thrilling continuation of the story, with intense battles, stunning animation, and an engaging storyline that will keep them on the edge of their seats. With the premiere date of July 6 fast approaching, the anticipation for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is only growing stronger, and fans can’t wait to see what the new season has in store for them.
