Jujutsu Kaisen, an anime series that took the Fall Season of 2020 by storm, has been expanding its reach since the success of Season 1. The show collaborated with popular games PUBG and Mobile Legends, and the release of the Jujutsu Kaisen movie helped to further boost the series’ manga sales. Despite the departure of the original director, the much-anticipated Season 2 was announced, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival.
At Anime Japan 2023, the voice actors of Jujutsu Kaisen participated in a panel discussion about Season 2. According to Yuichi Nakamura, who voices Gojo Satoru, the whole voice actor cast has already started recording for the upcoming season. Nakamura also revealed that there will be a lot of anime-only content in Season 2, which should excite fans of the series. The new season will cover two arcs: the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” and the “Shibuya Incident Arc.”
The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” spans just 14 chapters, so the creators will introduce anime-exclusive scenes to make sure that the content is covered adequately in the first part of Season 2, which is planned to air in the Summer Season of 2023. This will allow the show to extend the screen time for the arcs and add more depth to the story.
Nakamura also shared his experience in voicing a younger version of Gojo Satoru. He explained that while voicing the younger Gojo, he had to remember that the character is still developing and becoming the Gojo Satoru that viewers know. The character is confident but inexperienced, so Nakamura tried to convey that sense of superiority in his performance.
The manga of Jujutsu Kaisen is also set to end this year, which makes the release of Season 2 even more exciting for fans. Part 2 of Season 2 has not yet been announced, but with the announcement of more anime-only content, fans can expect a lot of surprises in the upcoming season.
