Beerus in Dragon Ball Super

Beerus, also known as Beerus the Destroyer, holds an important position in the Dragon Ball multiverse, tasked with destroying old planets to make way for new ones in Universe 7. This job requires him to be the strongest in that universe, which gives him the power to destroy anyone or anything that annoys him. However, despite this overwhelming strength, there are times when it seems like Beerus could easily resolve a problem with destruction, but he chooses not to. This behavior is not due to any external force preventing him from doing so, but rather because of his own pride and sense of integrity.

While Beerus is not necessarily against the idea of instantly destroying anyone who rubs him the wrong way, he takes a case-by-case approach to his actions. For example, with Bulma, he often dreads the idea of being scolded by her, but he won’t simply destroy her for that, even though nobody could do anything about it. However, if she meddles with the timeline too often, he will destroy her, especially if she does not make a good case for it. This shows that even though he has a soft spot for certain individuals, he is still willing to carry out his duties as the Destroyer.

In addition, Beerus is not burdened by sentimentality in the same way as mortals are. He may feel that it is a shame to destroy a planet with good food or nice people, but ultimately, he is focused on carrying out his job. However, his reputation and the rules that govern his actions are also important to him. He doesn’t want to be seen as a trigger-happy destroyer who destroys anything and everything at a whim, as that could tarnish his reputation. Moreover, he takes his promises seriously, even if nobody else knows about them. For example, after beating Goku, he promised to destroy Earth, but he didn’t follow through on that promise in a straightforward way. Instead, he made a show out of going back on his word, possibly out of fear of being watched by a higher power or simply to ensure that he remains true to his own principles.

Overall, Beerus’ behavior shows that he is not just a mindless destroyer, but a complex character with his own set of values and standards. While he has the power to destroy anything and everything in his universe, he chooses to exercise restraint and follow his own rules to maintain his reputation as a fair and just Destroyer.
