The official website for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime recently announced that the second season’s “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” arc will feature Tatsuya Kitani and Soushi Sakiyama as the artists for the opening and ending theme songs, respectively. “Ao no Sumika” (Blue House) will be performed by Tatsuya Kitani for the opening theme, while “Akari” (Lantern) will be performed by Soushi Sakiyama for the ending theme. Both singles are set to debut on July 19, and a preview of the opening theme song will be presented at the Jujutsu Kaisen segment of the “MAPPA STAGE 2023” event on May 21. The upcoming season will air on July 6 on MBS and TBS and 28 affiliated channels.
Moreover, the second season will be directed by Shōta Goshozono, who has previously directed episode 8 and 17 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Anna Nagase and Takehito Koyasu will be joining the cast as Riko Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, respectively. The season will cover both the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” arc and the “Shibuya Incident” arc, and will be split into two cours for a continuous half-year run.
The Jujutsu Kaisen anime originally premiered in October 2020, consisting of 24 episodes. The anime was streamed on Crunchyroll outside of Asia and was dubbed in several languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film, which opened in Japan in December 2021, was also released with English subtitles and an English dub in the U.S. and Canada on March 18.
The manga for Jujutsu Kaisen was launched in March 2018 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and has since been published digitally on Viz Media and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film is based on the manga prequel story Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō.
