In episode 6 of Demon Slayer season 3, the truth behind Genya and Sanemi’s strained relationship is unveiled

“In Demon Slayer season 3 episode 6, the true nature of Genya and Sanemi’s tumultuous relationship is finally unveiled. Viewers were given insight into the tragic incident that caused their bond to turn sour.

Previous episodes showcased Nezuko’s Demon Blood Art and Tanjiro’s enhanced sword as they battled against Hantengu’s emotions. While Tanjiro successfully decapitated three of the emotions, Genya’s approach took a more demonic form to eliminate the fourth emotion.

The latest episode of Demon Slayer season 3, however, delves into the history of the Shinazugawa siblings, shedding light on the secret behind Genya and Sanemi’s strained relationship. A flashback reveals their mother, Shizu, enduring abuse from their father, Kyogo. Eventually, due to public animosity towards Kyogo, he was fatally stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Following their father’s death, Genya and Sanemi made a pact to protect their family. Although their circumstances improved, it wasn’t enough to sustain them. One fateful night, as they anxiously awaited their mother’s return, Sanemi ventured out to search for her, leaving Genya responsible for their younger siblings.

Late into the night, a knock at their door filled the siblings with a mix of hope and apprehension. While Genya’s instincts warned him of potential danger, his younger siblings believed their mother had returned. Suddenly, the door was violently torn down, and the attacker mercilessly struck down all the children, leaving only Genya scarred.

Unable to see the assailant clearly, Genya was gripped by fear until Sanemi intervened, pushing the attacker out of the window. In a panic, Genya rushed to find a doctor while the injured Sanemi stood before their lifeless mother’s body, soaked in blood. Unbeknownst to Sanemi, their mother had been turned into a demon, concealed by the darkness of night. In his attempt to protect his brother, Sanemi unknowingly killed her. It was only at daybreak that Sanemi could see the truth of his actions.

Caught up in the emotional turmoil of the situation, Genya, unable to comprehend what had occurred, wrongfully accused his brother of being a murderer, driving a wedge between them and causing their family to fracture.”
