Tien Shinhan joins Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 5

Bandai Namco has confirmed that the fifth DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will introduce a new playable character, Tien Shinhan, and a gameplay feature called Ground Battles. This DLC will focus on the 23rd World Martial Arts tournament, which serves as the final arc of the original Dragon Ball series before transitioning into Dragon Ball Z. Players will have the opportunity to relive the battles leading up to the tournament’s ultimate showdown against Piccolo, with the DLC replicating various aspects of the tournament, including gameplay and roster.

Tien Shinhan, a former rival of Goku from the original Dragon Ball series, will be the featured playable character in the DLC. Tien, once a villain who turned into a hero, defeated Goku in a previous tournament after a grueling fight. The 23rd World Tournament marked the end of Tien’s life at the Crane School, where he confronts the hitman Tao Pai Pai. The fifth DLC of Kakarot allows gamers to experience Tien’s battle against the cyborg assassin.

Released screenshots by Bandai Namco showcase Tien and Tao on the tournament stage, with Tien utilizing his signature attack, the Tri-Beam. Other screenshots highlight new moves, including Goku’s foot-based Kamehameha, during the final showdown between Goku and Piccolo. Fans are thrilled to see Tien included as a playable character, as they believe he is often overlooked compared to characters like Piccolo and Vegeta.

The DLC will introduce Ground Battles as a new feature, where fights exclusively occur on the ground with slightly different rules. Players can achieve instant victory by knocking out their opponents or kicking them out of the ring, or they can aim to keep them down for a ten-count to win. If a player gets knocked down, they will need to play a small mini-game to get back up. This addition reflects the series’ emphasis on martial arts and hand-to-hand combat, showcasing the earlier focus before Dragon Ball Z’s battles grew larger and more grandiose.

While no release date has been announced for the DLC, fans are excited about the new details and look forward to reliving this climactic Dragon Ball arc in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Bandai Namco is currently occupied with developing new DLC for One Piece Odyssey.
