“Attack on Titan” now has same-day release for English viewers

The popular manga series “Attack on Titan” has a massive fan following worldwide, including English-speaking readers who eagerly await each new chapter’s release. Until recently, these fans had to rely on scanlation groups to translate the latest chapter into English and release it online, often days or even weeks after its original release in Japan.

But now, thanks to a new partnership between the series’ publisher, Kodansha, and digital comics platforms comiXology and Amazon, English-speaking fans can access each new chapter on the same day it’s released in Japan. This new service is called “simulpub,” which means simultaneous publishing, and it’s a significant development for manga fans who have long waited for official English releases to catch up with the original Japanese versions.

Along with “Attack on Titan,” several other popular manga titles have also received the same treatment, including “Fairy Tail,” “Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth Side: P4,” and “The Seven Deadly Sins.” Fans can download the latest chapters using either the comiXology or Kindle app, and they can even purchase previous releases to complete their collection.

While this is undoubtedly good news for English-speaking fans worldwide, it’s important to note that the simulpub service is not available in Japan. So, if you happen to live in Japan and don’t speak Japanese, you’ll still have to wait for the official English release to read the latest chapters. Nonetheless, the new partnership between Kodansha and comiXology/Amazon marks a significant milestone in the manga industry’s evolution, and it’s exciting to see how this will change the way fans consume and interact with their favorite titles in the future.
