Black Clover’s latest backstory reveal is frustrating fans the most

Black Clover fans have been eagerly waiting for more information about Sister Lily’s backstory, and Chapter 350 provided only a small amount of insight into her past. Sister Lily reveals to Asta that she joined the church due to the discrimination against magic users in the noble realm, but a similar system existed in the church as well. She eventually fled to Hage to help those in need but passes out before she can reveal more. This leaves fans with the realization that Sister Lily’s full backstory cannot be revealed until Lucius Zogratis, the big bad of the story, is defeated, which is also when the series is expected to end.

This news is frustrating for fans who have been eagerly waiting for answers about Sister Lily’s past, especially given the clues that Black Clover has dropped about her. Sister Lily’s attacker once wondered if she was a noble, and recent events have raised more questions about her connection to Hino and why she transported Asta there. Chapter 349 also confirmed that she intended to kill Asta, which leads to even more speculation about her motives.

Moreover, Sister Lily’s past hints at a darker side to her character that is still shrouded in mystery. She is the only Paladin who possesses two forms of magic, and while it’s likely that she could always wield both, she never used Spatial Magic until she became a Paladin. The fact that she was a noble running away from her past suggests that she may have been rejecting her noble upbringing and avoiding the use of her Spatial Magic because of its association with her past. However, this means that she may have been willing to sacrifice a child’s life by not using her Spatial Magic when the reincarnated elf-possessed mage attacked Hage earlier in the story.

All of these unanswered questions and hints about Sister Lily’s past make it clear that her story is a crucial part of Black Clover’s narrative. However, it seems that fans will have to wait until the very end of the series to find out the truth about her past and motives. Despite the frustration, the anticipation and speculation surrounding Sister Lily’s backstory only add to the excitement and intrigue of the story.
