Fairy Tail’s Acnologia was one of the most powerful characters in the series, feared by even the main villain, Zeref. He was a First-Generation Dragon Slayer and could leave other dragons in a half-dead state by reaping their souls. He was seemingly immune to all forms of conventional magic and could absorb any element or magic into himself to replenish or boost his strength. Although he was injured only a few times, he was ultimately defeated by a spell that combined the power of seven different powerful Dragon Slayers into one.
The Five Dragon Gods, who were introduced in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, were said to have power that could rival even Acnologia’s. However, it is difficult to determine whether they are actually stronger than the corrupted Dragon Slayer. The Five Dragon Gods fled to Guiltina during the Dragon King Festival in an effort to escape their demise at the hands of Acnologia. Over time, they came to realize that they had each become strong enough to not necessarily worry about a conflict with him. To be able to stop fearing Acnologia means that each of these dragons must have an immense amount of power, which all the ones shown so far indeed do. Selene, the Moon Dragon God, has power revolving around the stars and the moon, allowing her to travel between dimensions. Ignia, the Fire Dragon God and son of Igneel, has power so great that even Natsu fears he can’t compare. Mercphobia, the Water Dragon God, is capable of splitting the ocean and even moving the sea into the sky, and Aldoron, the Wood Dragon God, can “command life” and absorb the life forces of those that live on him.
While the Five Dragon Gods are strong, it is still uncertain if they could beat Acnologia in a fight. Acnologia’s power was shown to be far above that of everyone else, and he was feared by many throughout the series.
