Jujutsu Kaisen: Kenjaku reveals student threats, not Yuji

The manga series Jujutsu Kaisen appears to be rapidly approaching its climactic conclusion, with recent developments indicating the story’s progression towards its final stages. With Satoru Gojo now released and determined to put an end to the actions of Kenjaku and Sukuna, who currently inhabits Megumi’s body, it seems that the narrative is heading towards its ultimate resolution.

However, it seems that Gojo is not the sole threat to the Curses. Leaks from the upcoming chapter 222 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga have surfaced, shedding light on Kenjaku’s explicit mention of other individuals who pose a danger to him and the story’s protagonist, Yuji Itadori. Interestingly, Yuji’s name was noticeably absent from the list of potential threats.

(Note: The following discussion contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.)

The leaked content from chapter 222 reveals that Gojo will confront Sukuna on December 24, an anticipated face-off that has been teased for some time. Meanwhile, the students are also preparing for the impending confrontation, engaging in rigorous training and arming themselves for the decisive moment.

During a heated exchange between Sukuna and Kenjaku, the two discuss their forthcoming actions. Kenjaku asserts his intention to focus on the students while Sukuna deals with Satoru Gojo. A panel then highlights Kenjaku’s statement regarding the threats he needs to prioritize, showcasing Yuta, Maki, and Hakari, but conspicuously omitting Yuji.

This raises the question of why Yuji was excluded from Kenjaku’s considerations. One interpretation could suggest that Kenjaku’s focus on Yuta, Maki, and Hakari stems from their demonstrated potential and exceptional abilities throughout the series. These three characters have consistently displayed remarkable power and strategic prowess, capable of posing significant challenges even to the most formidable adversaries. Therefore, it could be argued that Kenjaku prioritizes those who appear to be logical threats, while considering Yuji less relevant now that he no longer carries Sukuna within him.

However, it is also plausible that this omission was merely coincidental on the part of author Gege Akutami, and Yuji still retains his status as a significant threat in the eyes of the antagonists. This would align with the fact that Sukuna, while trapped in Yuji’s body, witnessed firsthand the young man’s remarkable capabilities. Consequently, undermining Yuji’s potential significance would be illogical in this context.

In conclusion, some Jujutsu Kaisen fans express concern that Yuji Itadori may be sidelined in the story’s endgame. However, it is highly unlikely that this will be the case for several reasons. Firstly, Yuji is undeniably the main character of the series, and his role in the final outcome is crucial. Additionally, with Megumi possessed by Sukuna and Nobara’s current state uncertain, Itadori remains the sole remaining member of Gojo’s current generation of students. This dynamic aligns with the thematic elements of the story and underscores Yuji’s importance in the concluding acts. While speculation remains, the anticipation for what lies ahead in Jujutsu Kaisen continues to grow among fans.
