Jujutsu Kaisen resurrects Gojo after 3-year absence

The time has finally arrived. It has been quite a while since Jujutsu Kaisen last focused on one of its most beloved characters. For those familiar with the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, you’ll know that Yuji’s mentor, Gojo Satoru, found himself in a precarious situation a few years ago. Now, the series has announced that Gojo’s comeback is imminent, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

The wait for Gojo’s return has been long, with fans having been without him for over three years. Although in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, he has been absent for less than a month, fans have eagerly anticipated his reappearance.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 221, the series made a significant change by bringing Gojo back to the land of the living. After spending several years imprisoned, Gojo is finally free. With Sukuna now inhabiting Megumi’s body, the curses in the series are flourishing. However, Yuji has assembled a team to fight against this threat. Their first task was to rescue Gojo from the Prison Realm, and they successfully accomplished that in this week’s chapter.

However, the plan didn’t unfold as expected. As it turns out, the Prison Realm released Gojo in an unexpected location. Geto, or rather Kenjaku, was waiting for the renowned sorcerer as soon as he was freed. It was revealed that the cursed puppet had concealed the backdoor exit of the Prison Realm underwater in the sea of Japan. This unexpected encounter sets the stage for a confrontation between Gojo and Geto, as the world’s most powerful sorcerer has scheduled an official rematch. Fans can anticipate their reunion in the near future.

Gojo’s liberation has been highly anticipated, especially since he was sealed during the Shibuya Incident arc, covered in Chapter 91 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. With the series now well past 200 chapters, it’s easy to understand why fans are ecstatic about Gojo’s return. Given all that has transpired since his absence, there is much for the sorcerer to catch up on once he reunites with Yuji’s group.

If you’re not up to date with Jujutsu Kaisen, you can easily catch up by reading Gege Akutami’s acclaimed series. The entire manga is available digitally through the Shonen Jump app and Manga Plus. As for the anime adaptation, the first season is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu. Fans can look forward to the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 in July.
