The official Twitter account of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation has unveiled the fresh character designs for both the main characters and some new additions. In the upcoming second season, viewers will be taken 11 years into the past when Gojo and Geto were students at Jujutsu High. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to premiere on July 6, 2023.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will be released in two cours, with each cour spanning a three-month time frame, as is common for most seasonal anime series. The first cour will cover the “Hidden Inventory Arc,” while the second cour will focus on the “Shibuya Incident Arc.”
During Anime Japan 2023, it was revealed that season 2 will include anime-original scenes to expand the screen time, given that the “Hidden Inventory Arc” is only comprised of 14 chapters in the manga.
It’s worth noting that there will be a change in director for the second season. The director of the first season, Sunghoo Park, has departed Mappa studio to establish his own new studio. Shota Goshozono will be taking the reins as the director for the second season.
Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, created by Gege Akutama. Mappa Studio acquired the rights to adapt the manga into an anime series. The first season of the anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021. Additionally, Mappa studio released a movie adaptation based on the prequel manga, “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.” Both the first season and the anime film are available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
