Pokémon Go players slam Trainee Box for less inventory space

Pokemon Go players have a complicated relationship with the bundle boxes available in the in-game item shop. Sometimes these boxes offer irresistible deals on premium items, while other times players feel like they’re being pranked due to the quality of the contents and their price tags.

Over the past year, the value of these boxes has been decreasing, leaving players hopeful for a return to their former greatness. Unfortunately, this hope was shattered with the introduction of the Trainee Boxes on April 24.

The Trainee Box, priced at a hefty 375 coins or equivalent to eight days of defending a gym, offers 125 Pokeballs and two Silver Pinap Berries. Although it may appear as a discount compared to the cost of purchasing 100 Pokeballs separately, players were astounded by the price.

Reddit users OUTheMovie and Xhaszeqq shared screenshots of the Trainee Box with their respective communities, expressing their disbelief at the nearly 400-coin price tag. The comments section was flooded with trainers sharing their disappointment and amusement.

One user sarcastically joked, “Yes, just what I’ve always wanted, less inventory space.” Another pointed out the absurdity of spending money on Pokeballs when they could easily obtain them by spinning PokeStops.

Some trainers even compared the Trainee Box’s value to the number of Pokeballs and Berries they discard daily to make room for more valuable items. They found it ludicrous to spend money on something they regularly dispose of.

Furthermore, players noted that the Trainee Box’s price was almost equivalent to the cost of two Remote Raid Passes, which had recently undergone a price increase. Interestingly, players seemed more willing to invest in the pricier Raid Passes than in Pokemon Go’s underwhelming Trainee boxes.
