“Pokémon GO” revenue reaches a five-year low, according to reports

According to a recent report, the mobile game Pokemon GO has experienced a significant decline in monthly revenue, hitting its lowest number in five years. The game, which quickly became a cultural phenomenon upon its initial release, has faced its fair share of controversies over the years, but the latest one seems to be particularly significant.

One of the main issues causing concern within the Pokemon GO community is the recent changes made to Remote Raids, a popular feature that allows players to participate in raids without having to be physically present at the location. Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon GO, recently increased the prices of remote passes and made it more difficult for players to participate in Remote Raids, leading to a wave of backlash from players.

Many Pokemon GO players, particularly those with disabilities or who live in rural areas, have criticized Niantic for making the game less accessible and more expensive to play. Some players have even gone so far as to uninstall the game or sell their accounts on eBay in protest.

As a result of these controversies, Pokemon GO’s monthly revenue dropped to $34.7 million in April, the lowest it has been in over three years. While this figure still places the game among the top mobile games in the world in terms of revenue, it represents a significant drop from the $42.8 million made in March and the $57.9 million made in February.

Despite the decline in revenue, however, not all Pokemon GO players have abandoned the game. Many are still actively playing and hoping that Niantic will address their concerns in future updates. In fact, the game remains one of the most popular mobile games worldwide, with a dedicated fan base that has been playing the game for years.

Nevertheless, the drop in revenue highlights the need for Niantic to listen to its players and make changes that will keep the game engaging and accessible for everyone. With May just beginning, many Pokemon GO players are eagerly anticipating the release of new content and hoping that it will help turn the tide for the game.
