Sailor Moon Cosmos introduces Sailor Starlights in new trailer

The Sailor Starlights are making a triumphant return in the upcoming finale of the Sailor Moon series.

These iconic characters, who first appeared in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, will play a significant role in the highly anticipated two-part film event, Sailor Moon Cosmos. Disguised as the popular idol group known as Three Lights, the Sailor Starlights will take center stage as the magical girl series reaches its thrilling conclusion.

Excitement builds as a character short featuring the Sailor Starlights has been released on YouTube and TikTok, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. The trio consists of Sailor Star Maker, voiced by Saori Hayami (known for her role as Yor in SPY x FAMILY), Sailor Star Fighter, voiced by Marina Inoue (renowned for her portrayal of Tohka in Date A Live), and Sailor Star Healer, voiced by Ayane Sakura (recognized for her performance as Rei in Do It Yourself!!).

Under the direction of Tomoya Takahashi, assistant director of Gatchaman Crowds, Sailor Moon Cosmos will captivate audiences with its two-part film presentation produced by both Toei Animation and Studio Deen. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, the talented screenwriter behind That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, will bring the story to life, while Kazuko Tadano, renowned for her work on Sailor Moon seasons 1 and 2, returns as the character designer. Yasuharu Takanashi, known for his contributions to Sailor Moon Crystal, will once again provide the captivating music for the films. Yumiko Kuga from Studio Jack, recognized for her involvement in Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness, takes on the role of art director for the films.

Sailor Moon Cosmos will adapt the “final battle” from Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga series, previously depicted as the concluding arc of the original Sailor Moon anime, known as “Sailor Moon Sailor Stars.” The first part of Cosmos will grace the screens on June 9, with the second part following on June 30.

Continuing the narrative from the Sailor Moon Eternal two-part film, which premiered in early 2021 in Japan and arrived on Netflix on June 3 worldwide, Sailor Moon Cosmos promises to captivate fans. Sailor Moon Crystal, the TV anime series streaming on Crunchyroll, serves as the foundation for Eternal, retelling the iconic story of Sailor Moon as she embarks on a quest to find her fellow Sailor Guardians and the Legendary Silver Crystal to thwart the malevolent forces of Queen Beryl.

As the Sailor Starlights rejoin the beloved Sailor Moon universe, fans eagerly anticipate the epic conclusion of the series, embracing the magic, friendship, and eternal legacy of this iconic franchise.
