Max Verstappen has made it clear that he will not be starring in Netflix’s Drive to Survive anymore soon.
Max Verstappen has expressed his dissatisfaction with Netflix’s representation of driver connections and characters in the Drive to Survive series as part of a creative licence.
Verstappen, the defending Champion, has made it obvious that he has no desire to return to the show, having publicly expressed his disgust with how he was represented in the first season.
Despite having an excellent professional relationship with Daniel Ricciardo, Verstappen was portrayed as an antagonist alongside him at Red Bull throughout the 2018 Formula One season.
Given that he won the championship after a year-long duel with Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen’s withdrawal from the fourth season of the programme is especially noticeable, but he says he is adamant about not participating.
Verstappen is “astonished” that he is still in the series
“I watched a few episodes of the last [season], and I was surprised to suddenly find myself talking in it,” Verstappen told media during the latest Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend.
“It’s probably stuff from 2018, or something [that] they picked up and used again, about fighting and what I like to do, but that already is not correct. I could hear that my voice was a bit different.
“I realised also… a lot of times I was saying stuff and they were around with this [boom microphone] and they pick up a lot of stuff, so I have to be a bit more careful with that as well.”
“It’s just not my thing,” he stated, summarising his feelings about the show.
