McLaren performed well at the first pre-season trial in Barcelona, and Daniel Ricciardo believes that teamwork will be crucial when the 2022 season begins.
Daniel Ricciardo considers that teaming up with driver Lando Norris during the pre-season is very beneficial.
McLaren appeared to have an effective few days in Barcelona, with Norris leading the timesheets on the first day, though the Briton afterwards made a point of lowering expectations for the squad in 2022.
Apart from the car’s potential, team boss Andreas Seidl recently stated that keeping Ricciardo and Norris in the driver lineup might be a significant advantage for the Woking-based team.
Teamwork is essential, particularly in the preseason, and Ricciardo has attempted to provide as much feedback as possible throughout testing.
“Too much information” not possible in pre-season
“As much as I can!” Ricciardo spoke to the media, including RacingNews365.com, when asked about the type of feedback he was offering the team at the Barcelona test.
“[At] this point of the year, you really just give them everything, because we have time on our side.
“I think if it’s a race weekend, you try to be a little bit more concise and to the point, but now, really everything I feel, I try to just tell them. I don’t think at this point there can be too much information.”
Ricciardo has also made it a point to communicate with Norris in order to ensure that they are on the same page when it comes to moving the team forward.
“[I] try to give them [the team] everything, and then also talk with Lando,” the eight-time race winner said.
“I think this is an important time of year to work with your teammate, and really try to get each other kind of on the same wavelength, to then push the team in the right direction.”
On the 10th and 12th of March, Ricciardo, Norris, and McLaren will take part in the second pre-season test in Bahrain.
