Hamilton congratulates Ferrari, saying, “I know how difficult it’s been”

On Sunday, Ferrari returned to the top of the rankings in Bahrain, with Charles Leclerc spearheading a 1-2 finish.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc drove the Italian team to a 1-2 victory in Bahrain, and Lewis Hamilton praised them on their comeback to the top.

Hamilton was then in position to pilot his Mercedes to his 183rd career podium, which he shared with the red-car drivers.

Hamilton congratulated Ferrari on their comeback to the lead after the race in Bahrain, ahead of a great season in which the team seems poised to fight really hard for the World Championship.

“Big congratulations to these guys. It’s great to see them up here,” told select members of the media, including RacingNews365.com.

“It’s a lot of red, but I’m really, really happy to see these guys shine and be back up there.

“With the anthem and just the team and the energy that they always bring, it’s nice to see, and I know they had a difficult year last year, but they kept pushing.

“It’s great to see them back, but I hope that we can get in the battle with them at some stage.”

Mercedes has a lot of work to do before they can compete for the title

If Hamilton and Mercedes are to push their Mercedes W13 into championship contention, they still have a lot of work to do, according to the team.

On Saturday, the Silver Arrows placed fifth and ninth, raising concerns about their form heading to Saudi Arabia.

“I had a moment where I thought that I was going to have a battle with Carlos, but it only lasted for about five laps, then they were gone,” continued Hamilton.

“We definitely didn’t expect to – or I definitely didn’t expect to – be up there. I was hopeful. We did everything we could, praying as hard as we could, to get the best results.

“Ultimately, it came down to just really hard work from the whole team, both here and back at the factory.

“We have a lot of work to do. We have quite a big deficit in performance, but this is a great start, still.”
