Perez joins the fight as Verstappen strengthens his lead in the Formula One rankings

As Sergio Perez draws closer on Charles Leclerc, here’s how the Monaco Grand Prix outcome impacted the World Championship rankings.

Max Verstappen has increased his advantage in the Formula One World Drivers championship, but he still faces a championship battle with his race-winning teammate.

Sergio Perez snatched a hard-fought win at the Circuit de Monaco, cementing his position in the annals of the Monaco Grand Prix. During the pit stop phase, the Mexican racer took advantage of the slippery conditions to leapfrog both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, catching Ferrari off guard.

He’s now only six points behind early-season favourite Leclerc, having closed to within 15 points of his team member.

However, after seeing pole position transform into a fourth-place result in his home race, Leclerc’s points lead over Verstappen has grown to nine.

Red Bull maintains their lead in the Constructors’ rankings

After outscoring Ferrari by ten points in Monaco, Red Bull now leads the Constructors’ rankings by 36 points.

Despite a strong day for Norris, whose squad is 4th and likely to lead the midfield battle, Mercedes remains in third place.

Haas and AlphaTauri, on the other hand, had a difficult day, failing to score points while those around them profited.
