After stepping down as F1 Race Director for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a few months ago, Michael Masi appears prepared to back to motorsport racing.
It appears that Michael Masi will make his first appearance in the world of racing since departing the FIA.
Masi, a former F1 race director, lost his job in February after an extensive internal probe into the contentious circumstances surrounding the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
At response to changes in the top tier of the sport’s race governance, it was reported at the time that Masi would be awarded a new job inside the FIA. However, a statement made public in July revealed that Masi had departed the governing body to move to Australia.
According to recent speculations, Masi will take over as chairman of the Supercars Commission in his native nation.
Masi has prior experience in the field as a Supercars administrator, so this would not be his first time working in the field.
Masi served as Motorsport Australia’s deputy race director before entering the FIA in 2018 to serve as Charlie Whiting’s assistant. Later, after Whiting passed away in 2019, he was appointed Race Director.
