Owing to the Covid epidemic in 2020, the Hanoi street race was postponed, and it has not been scheduled since.
The $600 million track in the heart of Hanoi has already been cancelled, thus it appears that chances of a Formula 1 race in Vietnam are no longer high.
Despite agreeing to a 10-year contract, the racetrack did not appear on any consecutive schedules despite hosting the race in 2018. The 5.6-kilometer circuit now resembles an unused race track on a regular basis.
According to RacingNews365.com, other sites have purchased the safety systems, such as the race electronics and TecPro barriers, while the planned Formula E circuit in Hyderabad purchased 1,500 of the debris fences supplied by the Swiss business Geobrugg.
Additionally, the fan stands have been taken down, and residents have taken back control of the roadways near the track.
Due to the widespread Coronavirus outbreak, the race’s scheduled introduction at the beginning of the 2020 season had to be postponed.
All final expectations dissapeared by the corruption dashes of the Hanoi mayor
Vietnam would have spent $60 million annually on the race track venue, which was intended to improve Hanoi’s image and highlight the country’s expanding prosperity.
The biggest private corporation in the country, VinGroup, was expected to pay the charge.
When Hanoi City Mayor Nguyen Due Chung was detained and later given a 10-year prison sentence on corruption allegations, the race had already been called off for 2020.
According to AFP, local officials in Vietnam have reportedly decided against hosting the race between 2022 and 2029 as of June of last year.
