Max Verstappen thinks he has no other option than to take part in Netflix’s Drive to Survive.
Max Verstappen, a two-time Formula 1 World Champion, feels compelled by his position to appear in the Netflix Drive to Survive series.
The iconic behind-the-scenes look at Grand Prix racing has led to a debate over its 4 seasons, with some feeling that much of the drama amongst racers is faked, whereas no such thing is possible in real life.
Verstappen skipped the show in season four, which focused on his successful 2021 title defense, and he did not participate in any sit-down production interviews or direct on-camera appearances except from broad, all-encompassing shots and race action.
This position has changed in time for season five, which will focus on Verstappen defending his championship in 2022 and his Red Bull squad unseating Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship following an eight-year era of power.
Verstappen “has to” feature in Drive to Survive
With three US grand prix scheduled for 2023, featuring ones in Miami and Las Vegas, Drive to Survive has been played an important role in helping F1 finally crack the American enigma after approximately 70 years of trying.
Verstappen considers it “essential” to maintain the growth of Formula One and, following negotiations with the production team, is pleased to participate once more.
Verstappen admitted to speaking with them before giving an interview to the media, including RacingNews365.com.
“I hope that they understood my message, and I also know that especially being a World Champion, you have to be part of something like that.
“So I gave them like 30 minutes to one hour of an interview and I hope that they are going to use it.
“I don’t know when I’m going to watch it, but I hope they are happy.
“And I hope that I can be happy after watching it – I know it is important to F1 as well for growing the sport in general.
On February 24, the second day of the three-day preseason test in Bahrain, season five of Drive to Survive is scheduled to be released.
