Recap of Attack on Titan S4 Part 2: Eren’s fate?

The highly anticipated Attack on Titan anime series returns with The Final Season Part 3 on March 4, picking up where the story left off. To refresh your memory and provide an overview of the events leading up to this point, let’s delve into the recap of Season 4 Part 2’s final episode and the significance of key moments and characters.

The episode begins with Eren and his crew’s initial visit to Marley, following the intense port battle between the surviving members of the Survey Corps and the Yeagerists. The undercover Eldians’ intention is to form an alliance with the Subjects of Ymir Protection Group, whose leader is scheduled to deliver a speech the next day.

During their time in Marley, the group learns about the witch hunt for Subjects of Ymir, as Levi catches a young refugee named Ramzi with Sasha’s purse. To protect Ramzi from the Marleyan crowd, Levi pretends that he is Sasha’s sibling, allowing the group to escape unnoticed. They later discover that Marley has been cracking down on escaped Subjects of Ymir who fled internment camps, dampening their hopes for peace.

The following day, the group attends the forum, only to be disappointed by the organization’s agenda. Instead of seeking harmony among all Eldians, the speaker seeks assistance for the refugee Subjects of Ymir while condemning the “island devils” as their true enemies. Witnessing the hatred firsthand, Eren leaves the group to initiate a surprise attack in Liberio.

Meanwhile, Mikasa notices Eren’s absence and finds him near Ramzi’s community. They have a heartfelt conversation, where Eren questions Mikasa’s devotion to him. Mikasa, taken aback, expresses that Eren is like family to her, as he saved her when they were younger and she has since lived with the Yeager family. Their discussion is interrupted when they are invited to a party by one of Ramzi’s elders. The entire team joins the celebration, and they eventually pass out in a tent, with Mikasa sleeping next to Eren.

Later, both Eren and Mikasa reflect on their complex relationship separately. Zeke suggests to Eren that Mikasa might have strong feelings for him, enough to go to great lengths for him. Mikasa contemplates whether her response to Eren’s earlier question could have altered their circumstances.

The episode also sheds light on Eren’s motivations and plans. In conversations with allies Floch and Historia, Eren reveals that he only joined forces with Yelena and Zeke for the Eldian euthanasia plan as a means to deceive Marley. Once he gains access to the Coordinate, the channel connecting all titans and Subjects of Ymir, Eren discards Zeke’s plan. Historia voices concerns about the potential harm to innocent people, including Eren’s own mother, but Eren remains steadfast in his belief that the all-out attack, known as the Rumbling, will end the cycle of revenge and secure a future for his friends.

Prepare for the next chapter in Attack on Titan as Season 4 Part 3 airs on March 4, continuing the intense and captivating story.
