Verstappen is the first racer to be awarded a new FIA honour

Despite being the final race of the 2022 Formula One season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the first one to feature a special award that the FIA had introduced, with Max Verstappen receiving the honour on this particular occasion.


As a reward of his achievement at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is now the first racer to earn a brand-new FIA honour.

Each F1 championship winner will now get get a medal in addition to the regular trophy.
